TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Tallahassee's Animal Service Center held a yard sale for surplus donations on Saturday.

The center says they receive a lot of items such as clothes for pets that they do not need.

Instead of throwing the donations away, every month the center hosts a yard sale to sell those extra items they have and use the money to buy things they need.

Assistant Director of the Animal Service Center, Michael St. John, says there are some items they need more donations of.

"We can always use things like canned dog food, canned cat food, toys that are of a variety that are like kongs, things like that, nylabones. Those things we use in house," said St. John.

The yard sale happens the first Saturday of every month and the center tends to raise about $300 at each sale.

Of course, there are always opportunities if you want to donate money or volunteer your time to help.
