TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- A Leon County resident is enjoying a brand-new home, thanks to a government program.

Ira Dean James received the keys to her new dwelling during a ribbon cutting on Wednesday, July 10.

James home was replaced by a grant from the State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP). SHIP and Leon County Housing Services work together to increase and preserve the supply of affordable housing units within the unincorporated areas of Leon County.

Only residents of extremely low, very-low, low and moderate income qualify for SHIP funds.
