Tallahassee, Fla. (WTXL) - An easy re-election could be in sight for a number of local politicians who are still running unopposed.
According to our media partners at the Tallahassee Democrat, candidates have until noon this Friday to qualify for the Ballot. They can do so by paying a fee or turning in voter signatures, though the deadline for signature passed last month. Candidates with no opposition will automatically be elected or re-elected when the qualifying period ends.
At this time, city commissioner Andrew Gillum is running unopposed to be Tallahassee's next mayor. No one has filed to run against city commissioners Nancy Miller and Gil Ziffer, Leon County commissioners Kristin Dozier and Nick Maddox. Leon County Board members Maggie Lewis-Butler and Georgia "Joy" Bowen are also running unopposed. All of these candidates are running for relection.
