TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) – Local women are preparing for the Capital City Scholarship Pageant. Sixteen contestants will be competing to be crowned Miss Tallahassee and Miss Capital City, Florida. The two winners will move on to compete in St. Petersburg this summer at the Miss Florida Scholarship Pageant. The winner of that pageant will move on to the national Miss America pageant.

The pageant began last year as the Miss Florida State University Scholarship Pageant. It became the largest local scholarship pageant in the history of the state of Florida.

This year, the pageant will extend to the city of Tallahassee. Close to $3,000 in scholarship opportunities are available.

The red carpet, black tie event will be on February 23 at the Lee Hall Auditorium at Florida A&M University.
