The Tallahassee Police Department announces its third Citizens’ Police Academy (CPA) for 2015 beginning September 1st. The CPA is an information process where citizens learn more about the inner-workings of TPD while participating in several police related activities. There is no associated cost for participants.
CPA class members will receive information, instruction, and demonstrations in police use of force, narcotics enforcement, gang response and traffic issues just to name a few. The class will receive presentations from the Special Response Team, K-9, Special Operations, Criminal Investigations, Forensics, and much more. Class members will have the option to participate in a police-ride-along on a patrol shift and visit the Florida Public Safety Institute for a TAC Team and weapons demonstration during the program.
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• 21 years of age or older.
• Pass a criminal history check.
• Work or live in Tallahassee/Leon County.
• Be able to commit to attending all classes during the 9-week class period.
