TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - We are half way through 2017 and Tallahassee Police are reporting an increase in violent crime, but a decrease in total crime reported.
Total crime reported is down in Tallahassee by 12%. The Uniform Crime Statistics Report classifies murder, sex crimes, robbery and aggravated assault as violent crimes.
In the category, aggravated assaults are up by 1%, while sex crimes are down 3%.
Officer David Northway says the Tallahassee Police Department is continuing to monitor the data in order to best use their resources to mitigate crime and the impact it has on the community.
