TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Tallahassee Police Department says that they have arrested 24 people in a series of operations targeting prostitution.
They said that over the last week, the Tallahassee Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit has been focusing on prostitution in the Capital City.
Two of the undercover operations focused on street level prostitution and led to 14 arrests. A third operation targeted another popular form of prostitution focused on the use of internet.
They say the third operation took place on Aug. 18 and resulted in the arrest of 10 people for various crimes, ranging from prostitution to a weapons violation for carrying a concealed electronic stun gun.
“TPD is committed to ensuring the safety of our citizens and will continue striving to make Tallahassee a place all people can live, work and play in the safest environment possible. On a day to day basis, TPD officers are listening to our citizens’ concerns and taking the necessary steps to drive the crime rate down in our city,” said Chief Michael DeLeo.
Officers say that the combined charges rack up to 35.
