TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Tallahassee Police are investigating what they believe may have been a suicide at Villa Lucia Apartments.
The Tallahassee Police Department said that while patrolling the area at about 2:10 p.m. on Monday, an officer heard what he believed to be gunshots coming from within the complex.
At about the same time, officers said that the Consolidated Dispatch Agency received a phone call and the dispatcher could hear a woman screaming and what was believed to be gunshots in the background.
TPD said that all available patrol members immediately responded to the complex and began evacuating apartments near where the gunshots were heard.
At the same time, the TPD members on scene heard a gunshot come from within apartment #159 and a woman screaming.
Believing someone’s life was in danger, officers decided to break a glass window and access the apartment.
Once inside, TPD officers found a man who was dead, with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound and woman who appeared to be uninjured.
She was immediately taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
TPD said there were no other people injured in the incident and TPD does not believe there is a threat to any other community members.
