TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- The school year is set to start up very soon and the Tallahassee Police Department is hoping you can help by donating school supplies and backpacks.

Tallahassee Police Department personnel will be placing a marked police car in front of Target located at 2120 Apalachee Parkway on Saturday, August 1st and August 8th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

They are hoping to collect backpacks, paper, binders, pens, pencils, erasers, folders, protractors, compasses, glue, calculators, and scissors. All of the collected school supplies will be sorted and the backpacks will be filled.

TPD has a goal of filling at least 200 backpacks to be given to students in need.

If you would like to make a donation and are unable to make it by Target, they are accepting donations at the Tallahassee Police Department located at 234 E. 7th Avenue through August 10th.
