TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- A former officer with the Tallahassee Police Department has filed a formal complaint with the city regarding current police chief Michael DeLeo and a relationship he admits he had with a subordinate.

WTXL has confirmed that former sergeant Brian Davis filed the complaint Wednesday, detailing why DeLeo's actions have "caused turmoil" within the department.

Davis is scheduled to stand trial later this month, facing a misdemeanor charge of soliciting a prostitute.

DeLeo has issued the following statement in response to the complaint:

“Last month, I spoke openly and freely about this matter and publicly apologized for creating a situation which distracted from the amazing work our officers are doing on a day to day basis. The City Manager is reviewing the matter and I am focusing on bringing the very best public safety services to the citizens of Tallahassee.”
