TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)-- Tallahassee Police were busy Thursday night responding to multiple reports of robbery. By Friday morning, officers had responded to 5 calls, 4 of which involved a weapon of some sort.
The first call came in after 8:30 p.m Thursday. An armed suspect wearing a mask approached a man walking into his home on Timberwood Circle South. One property owner says that sort of crime is unusual for the area.
"We've never had any problems. My daughter lived here for 4 years alone, and then she got a roommate. My son lived here. We've never had any problems," said Una Cornelius.
2 hours later another call came in, this time on Park Avenue. A group of people were walking near a building at Polos on Park Apartment Complex, when they were approached by a masked suspect showing a handgun.
Tallahassee Public Information Officer Dave Northway said the positive of the crimes is that nobody was hurt.
Another robbery took place near the intersection of Madison and Lorene streets. A man approached a car, showed a handgun and made the passengers get out of the car. The suspect then fled in the vehicle, which was recovered an hour later.
Tallahassee Police says there is a concern because of how many robberies take place. But you can increase your safety by walking in pairs and always pay attention to your surroundings.
Police are searching still searching for the suspects. All the cases have been passed on to the Violent Crimes and Forensic Unit.
Anyone with information is asked to call Tallahassee Police Department at (850) 891-4200.
