TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- A Tallahassee nightclub has decided not to expand its parking lot into the surrounding neighborhood.

This comes after several residents voiced their complaints about how it could affect the safety of the area.

The Tallahassee-Leon County Planning Department says Top Flite Club has withdrawn its application for a zoning change.

The plan to expand met opposition from residents in the area, claiming the club would invade their privacy and bring unwelcome attention closer to home.

Pastor Lee Johnson has been supporting the neighbors' concerns for weeks. He says he's thankful the club owner has had a change of heart.

"I'm extremely happy to see how those neighbors came together and fought," Johnson said. "They did something I hadn't seen, you know, citizens do in years."

WTXL has reached out to Top Flite's legal team about why the club withdrew its application. So far, the club has not responded.
