TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - It's Martin Luther King Junior Day and for many, that means participating in the nationally designated Day of Service.
For the Tallahassee NAACP that day of service started with speakers at the C.K. Steele Bus Plaza.
The brisk January morning wasn't enough to stop a crowd of hundreds from coming out to remember Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
From Kim Smith bringing out signs to show support, to elected officials and teenagers.
"If we follow Dr. King's teachings, we can not simply turn our heads or look the other way," said Representative Loranne Ausley.
"We have one with us today. Lance is only 13 and he's here. I 'm pretty sure something will be said today and he'll learn how to be more successful in life and love everybody," said Smith.
The Tallahassee NAACP brought together people of different ages, races, and walks of life on this MLK Day to do what Dr. King did many times in his short life.
