The Tallahassee Museum will be closed to the public through Sunday, September 4 and will tentatively re-open at 1pm, Monday, September 5. In a Press Release, they said the following:
"Upon early assessment Friday morning, Tallahassee Museum leadership discovered the Museum experienced some major damage and power outages caused by Hurricane Hermine. Thankfully, all Museum animals were found safe and secure."
" ...the Natural Science Building has a large tree on the roof and roof damage, one of the Museum Preschool playgrounds has a tree down in it with heavy debris, the farmstead's corncrib has been crushed by a large oak tree, the sheep pen's roof overhang has been hit by a tree, a support cable on the aviary broke and the aviary is leaning, a zip line in Zone Two of Soaring Cypress has a large tree on it, and a power line is down on the ground behind the Visitor Center."
Power has been restored to the Musuem and the City will address the downed power line as soon as possible. Damaged areas will be secured and roped off to the public in anticipation of opening on Monday at 1 pm.
