TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- A mother of two is recovering after she was stabbed several times with a steak knife Friday at her home on Saxon Street, said police.
The victim told police that she heard a knock on her door just after 2:00 a.m. She told police that she opened the door because she knew the suspect, Raymond Jackson.
Jackson was upset because his girlfriend had kicked him out of the house and he wanted to stay with the victim, said police. However, the victim noticed that Jackson was behaving strange and seemed nervous and agitated.
The victim became scared of Jackson and armed herself with a kitchen knife, said police. At that point, Jackson pulled out a long serrated steak knife and attacked the woman, said police.
The victim sustained several stab wounds as well as bite marks on her scalp and hands, said police. Jackson also tried to cut the victim's throat, said police.
A neighbor called 911 and Jackson ran from the crime scene, said police.
Police found the victim covered in blood on the sidewalk, she was transported to a local hospital.
The woman's two children were home at the time of the attack, said police. The older child, a 6-year-old, was also able to give police a description of what happened.
Police found the suspect at home on the 1000 block of Basin Street. Investigators said they found a plastic bag filled with bloody clothes in the dumpster. Jackson was found at the home and arrested. Police said that he sustained wounds that were consistent with attacking the victim with a knife.
