TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Tallahassee mayor John Dailey is vowing not to shut off the utilities of federal workers who are unable to pay their bills during the shutdown.
Community leaders have organized what they are calling the "Love Thy Neighbor Movement."
A press conference was held at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church about the shutdown impacting federal workers in Tallahassee. Workers and their families were in attendance as well as several faith leaders, Tallahassee Chamber president Sue Dick and local attorney Anabelle Dias.
Tallahassee mayor John Dailey was also at the press conference and met with more than a dozen federal workers living in the Tallahassee area. He pledged to provide support wherever needed.
As part of that support, Dailey has vowed not to shut off federal workers' utilities if they are unable to pay their bills.
