TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Tallahassee Mayor John Marks says he's not running for re-election.

The mayor made the announcement Tuesday morning at a morning press conference. He has been in office for ten years, or four terms.

Marks says that he will hopes to open a non-profit with his son, who is an attorney and professor at Florida State University. However, he adds that won't happen for another year and he has "plenty to do" before that time.

Tallahassee City Commissioner Andrew Gillum has previously announced he will run for mayor in a bid to replace Marks.

Marks says he hopes that his successor will help Tallahassee to continue to "grow and prosper."
