TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum is being honored on a national scale.
In August, Gillum was named to The Root Magazine's "Top 100 of 2015."
It pays tribute to the 100 most important black influencers between 25 and 45 in politics, culture and society.
On Thursday, Mayor Gillum will speak at the "Young Emerging Leaders in the African-American Community Dinner" in New York City.
Fellow honorees on the list alongside Gillum include musician John Legend and Shonda Rhimes, creator of Grey's Anatomy and Scandal.
"I am truly honored to be included with such a distinguished group of leaders from around the nation," said Gillum in a release. "I believe strongly that this designation is a reflection of the great work that has been done this last year to move our City forward, and overall the progressive and forward thinking community I have the privilege to work alongside every day."
