GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - A 19-year-old found guilty of second degree murder will serve 25 years in prison.
The Gadsden County Court gave 19-year-old Keveonte Thomas the minimum sentence of 25 years plus five years of probation for the murder of Kentrell Thomas.
Officials said in February, Thomas, along with two other suspects were involved in a shooting at the Gadsden Arms Apartments, where Kentrell was shot and killed.
Thomas's father, John Thomas, spoke to the court about his son's sentencing.
"I really do believe he deserves a second chance, he's not a bad person," said John. "He would take it back if he could and I'm not just saying that because he's my son."
Thomas is credited with 509 days served toward his sentence.

Keveonte Thomas, 19, was found guilty in April for the murder of Kentrell Thomas.
Officials said that, in February, Thomas, along with two other suspects, was involved in a shooting at the Gadsden Arms Apartments, where Kentrell was shot and killed.
Police say the two other suspects - Mark Williams, 20, and a 15-year-old - were all charged with second-degree murder.
The hearing is set to begin at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
