TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The power of cinema can't be denied and a great film can be the ultimate escape by transporting us into another place time and feeling.

That power is something a Tallahassee business owner and film buff knows only too well and wants to share with the community.

Cap City Video Lounge owner Kevin Cole said they are the last standing video rental store in the city and their theater shows movies, screens independent films and can be rented for events.

Cole said the lounge is an antidote to the isolation of home video streaming. It allows people to get out, socialize and make friends in a fun environment.

Cole and his wife opened the lounge two years ago.

"I've been collecting memorabilia and watching movies since I was a kid my mom and I used to go to the movies every Friday night and we just saw whatever was out so it's been a passion of mine since day one really," said Cole.

Cole said movies like the Cap City Video Lounge bring people together.

"I've always felt movies are an empathy machine. A way to see the world through someone else's eyes to me I've always found that fascinating. It's a way to open your mind and your heart and what is better than that? It's just an incredible art form," said Cole.

Cap City Video Lounge is moving to a new location in Tallahassee on February 15. Their new address will be posted on their Facebook page.
