TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A 20-year-old man has been arrested, accused of vandalizing Generations Church on New Year's Eve.

According to court documents, Waylon Hoover, and another individual were caught on surveillance footage vandalizing Generations Church on December 31, 2017.

An investigator wrote that an informational sign had been ripped in half by a male around 2:35 a.m. that morning.

Police say that Hoover was seen "throwing something against the building repeatedly before attempting to remove a pole from the ground, putting it back, then tearing the sign in half."

Investigators note that both Hoover and the second suspect were both believed to be involved in an auto theft. Hoover was also believed to be involved in a retail theft from the Circle K on West Pensacola Street.

Using information from the cases Hoover was suspected in, police were able to confirm his identity and take him into custody over the weekend.

He has been charged with criminal mischief to a church and remains in the Leon County Detention Center on a $2,500 bond.
