TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A Tallahassee man was arrested for capital sexual battery upon a person less than 12 years of age.

Robert Inasy, 67, was booked into the Leon County Detention Facility on Thursday.

In March 2017, investigators traveled to Ohio and interviewed the then 13-year-old victim, who disclosed that for years Inasy had raped the victim while they were living in Tallahassee with family members.

The victim says the incident occurred when they were 6 to 8 years of age. According to the report, the assaults happened frequently over the course of several years.

When authorities first interviewed Inasy, he denied ever having sex with the victim. When interviewed a second time, Inasy admitted to having a romantic relationship with the victim, saying that he wanted to marry the victim when they were of age.

Investigators were also able to find photos, videos, and audio recordings "depicting Inasy's obsession with [the victim]."

As a result of the investigation, Inasy was charged with capital sexual battery on a person less than 12.

Years before the victim told anyone about the assaults, Inasy had been reported for his inappropriate contact with the victim.

On February 14, 2012, Inasy was accused of violating a July 2011 permanent injunction prohibiting him from contacting the victim. The probable cause document says Inasy went to the victim's school and gave the victim a Valentine's Day gift.

Inasy told an investigator in June 2012 that he burned his copy of the injunction and admitted to giving gifts to the victim. About a week later, he was arrested for violating the injunction. He was arrested again two days later when he violated the injunction again.

The repeated violations resulted in Inasy being sentenced to jail for 277 days in one violation and 128 for the other.

Inasy is now in the Leon County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
