TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A man was arrested for punching a nurse at the Capital Regional Medical Center.

CJ Davis, 41, was arrested by the Leon County Sheriff's Office for punching a nurse on Mar. 5.

Deputies responded to CRMC after receiving a call from the staff saying Davis hit a nurse as he was being released from the hospital.

The victim says he was discharging Davis from the ER when Davis became agitated over paperwork.

The police report states Davis then punched the victim in the jaw. The victim stated he quickly exited the room and then Davis began following him through the halls until a deputy approached Davis.

While talking to police, a witness said he heard Davis raising his voice, which caught the witness attention. When the witness looked in the room, he saw Davis punch the victim in the face.

According to the witness, the victim quickly left the room and walked over to the nurses station.

Davis then began looking for the victim and saying things such as, "where is he" as it seemed Davis was looking for the victim in an aggressive manner.

The witness stated Davis continued looking for the victim until he saw the witness and began walking the other direction.

While interviewing with deputies, Davis stated that the victim was taking his paperwork and the victim hit him. Davis also said he suffers from bipolar and schizophrenia.

While in custody, Davis made numerous statements such as, "I knocked the sh** out of him," and "I hit him like a b***h."

Davis stated the victim grabbed his hand in order to take his paperwork and believed he was defending himself by hitting the victim.

Davis continued to say he did not knock the victim out or cause him to bleed.

Davis was arrested and charged for battery on an emergency care provider.
