LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - The Florida Highway Patrol arrested a Tallahassee man who left the scene of an accident in which a motorcyclist from Monticello received serious injuries Monday morning.
FHP arrested Bruce James II, 27, after the accident on Interstate 10 at 6:27 a.m. Monday.
Stephen Nagy, 42, received serious injuries and was taken to Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare.
While the car that James was driving and a motorcycle were traveling west on Interstate 10 at mile marker 209, according to the FHP report, the front of James' car collided with the rear fender of the motorcycle.
Nagy lost control, and the motorcycle overturned and slid for 400 feet down the roadway.
James continued traveling west until his vehicle became disabled about one mile from the crash scene. A Tallahassee Police Department officer rolled up on the scene soon after and detained the driver.
FHP later arrested James for leaving the scene with serious injuries.
James was booked into the Leon County Detention Center on Monday for hit and run and failure to remain at the scene of a crash involving injury. He got out of jail on a $1,000 bond.
