TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - An arrest has been made in the shooting death of a Tallahassee man killed in early June.

According to the Tallahassee Police Department, Deandre Wiggins was arrested on Thursday for the murder of Devaris Bass.

Bass was shot and killed on June 4 in the area of 1700 Keith Street, according TPD.

Police say witnesses claimed to have seen two black males running from the scene of the shooting and getting into a white sedan. Officers got surveillance footage of the area and discovered the vehicle they ran to had been stolen during a drug deal and was then found after Bass was killed. Police say a witness to that incident was able to identify the person that took the car as Wiggins.

Officers say they also were able to find fingerprints inside the car that matched Wiggins and interviewed other witnesses that told them Wiggins discussed the homicide and tried to get rid of a handgun in his possession.

Phone records were obtained by police and included a text message sent from Wiggins' girlfriend the morning after the shooting saying, "I told you I ain't want to see that gun no more and you just go ham with it last night."

Wiggins is also said to be a member of the Northside/Dogg House gang. He is being held in the Leon County Jail.

His charges are homicide and possession of ammunition by a convicted felon.
