TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - A man is in custody after police say he hit and choked his younger brother after the 14-year-old came home from a baseball game.
Matthew Green was arrested and charged with cruelty toward a child/abuse of a child without great bodily harm.
According to the Tallahassee Police Department, on Tuesday Green's mother and younger brother went to police saying Green had become violent with the 14-year-old when the teen got home from a baseball game.
The two told officers Green began hitting the teen in the shoulder/chest and face, then grabbed him by the throat. The mom told police she was able to break Green's grip.
The mom and teen tried to leave the house but according to police, Green tried to stop them. He eventually left the house himself and the two were able to leave.
Police say the mother told them that Green had been getting more violent before the Tuesday incident but it usually involved her husband who was not home at the time.
Green was arrested on Thursday and police say he is not allowed to have contact with the family.
