TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A man is facing DUI charges after he crashed into a patrol vehicle, sending a deputy to the hospital.

According to court documents, Leon County deputies were conducting a traffic stop on Apalachee Parkway in October, when another car hit them from behind.

As a result of the crash, one of the deputies was hospitalized.

When investigators approached the car, they immediately smelled alcohol on the driver's breath. Investigators say 25-year-old Cameron Wilkins seemed "dazed and confused." There was also a open "wine cooler" in the vehicle.

Investigators spoke with Wilkins and he admitted that he had been drinking. Wilkins also said that he blacked out during the crash.

Investigators asked Wilkins if he would take a blood alcohol test and he agreed.

Documents say that on Dec.7, investigators received the results from the blood test that showed Wilkins alcohol levels were at 0.116g on the night of the crash.

Since Wilkins was driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.008g or higher, deputies charged him with DUI with property damages.

On Thursday, Wilkins was booked into the Leon County detention Facility. He has since bonded out.
