TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A Tallahassee man accused of firing a handgun into the air from a car has been arrested on firearms charges.

Jake Tyler Wallace, 20, was booked into the Leon County Detention Center on Monday on charges of firing a weapon from a vehicle within 1,000 feet of any person and using a weapon during a felony.

Wallace was a passenger in a car when two people began yelling curse words and displaying their middle fingers at him and the driver, according to a probable cause affidavit completed by a Leon County deputy.

In response, Wallace fired a Glock 23 .40-caliber semiautomatic pistol and the car sped off from the stop sign at Lovic Road and Oak Ridge Road.

Deputies found the vehicle Wallace was riding in at the Circle K at 9160 Woodville Highway.

The driver told the deputy she had driven Wallace over to Oak Ridge Road to drop him off to get a ride. She dropped Wallace off at an unknown side road, and soon he came running back to the vehicle, telling her to go.

While they were driving off, the court document said, a black Jeep started following them. She said Wallace fired off one round out of the passenger side window of her car.

Wallace declined to talk to law enforcement.
