TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - Tallahassee residents had the opportunity to learn about areas that are prone to bears and how to reduce human and bear interactions.
Leon County government and the Florida Wildlife Conservation teamed up to educate the public on how to live near black bears without any incidents. Citizens learned new preventative techniques.
The techniques included how to keep pets and livestock safe, how to properly secure garbage, and how to respond if one were to come in contact with a bear.
The black bear population has continued to increase across the state while their areas for habitation are decreasing. Officials said that training sessions like these are more important that ever.
