TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum is set to welcome U.S. Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx on Tuesday.
Foxx is launching a new five-state bus tour called Grow America.
It's aimed at modernizing the country's infrastructure by restoring and renovating roads, bridges and transits systems. That, in return would offer more jobs to those who would work on the projects.
Mayor Gillum says he's proud that Tallahassee was chosen has the first stop on the Grow America tour, adding: "The importance of modernized infrastructure for our city cannot be understated, as it sharpens our economic competitiveness, spurs development, and improves the quality of life for our citizens. I very much look forward to working alongside Secretary Foxx and his team at the department of transportation on this vital initiative."
