TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Tallahassee Housing Authority won a court case over a man who was seeking $600,000 in reimbursement for an injury on their property.

On Wednesday, THA won a case in Leon County Courts over a personal injury lawsuit that was filed by a guest claiming an injury after visiting the property.

Kenneth Prather claimed to have fractured his leg at the Springfield Apartments as the result of stepping into a hole. He was looking for over $600,000 in reimbursement.

“I knew we had to challenge this suit in court because each day our staff members wake up committed to maintaining the premises of our properties, including Springfield Apartments, to provide the safest atmosphere for our residents and guests," said Brenda Williams, THA Executive Director.

The jury determined that there was no negligence on the part of THA.

“I am proud of the work of our legal team led by Attorneys Kara Aikens, Larry K. White and Jack McLean, Jr. who took on a legal giant and underscore the commitment we make to a safe environment for everyone at the Tallahassee Housing Authority” said Williams in a press release.
