TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A family of three is without a home after an early morning fire in Tallahassee.

The Tallahassee Fire Department says that at 1:56 a.m., they received a call to a reported structure fire. Units from stations 13, 3, and 1 were dispatched to the 100 block of Elena Drive.

When crews arrived, they were met with heavy smoke and fire coming from the house. A quick offensive attack was made to extinguish the blaze.

TFD says the residents inside were initially asleep and unaware of the fire until they were woken up by their barking dog.

The family of three was able to safely evacuate the structure without any injuries.

Their home, however, was reported as a complete loss.  It is estimated that the fire caused approximately $85,000 in damages to the house and its contents.

Red Cross was notified and assisted the displaced family of two adults, one child, and dog. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
