TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The City of Tallahassee hosted a community meeting for residents to learn about the newly completed 20-acre solar farm.

The project will use about 22,000 solar panels.

Officials say customers enrolled in the program that uses the solar farm will pay five cents per kilo-watt instead of the cost of natural gas.

Officials with Origis Energy provided an overview of the farm and an update on the expansion of the solar program.

It's estimated that the solar farm will produce enough energy to power 3,400 homes in the area.

The farm is located on Springhill Road, behind the Tallahassee International Airport.
