TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A Tallahassee tradition during the holidays is all about man's best friend.

The 23rd annual Santa Paws Walk featured some pretty adorable dogs at Lake Ella Saturday morning.

Tallahassee Big Dog Rescue organizes this event every year.

The group showed off some dogs ready to be adopted, while some owners dressed up their dogs as part of a costume contest.

Of course, Santa and Mrs. Claus were there to lead a walk around the lake and take pictures with families and their fur babies.

The president of Tallahassee Big Dog Rescue said it's a fun event with an important purpose.

"This is a great time for the community to come together and have a great time and show the awareness of the rescue groups and the different organizations that are around town like Be the Solution and Fat Cat Cafe and Big Dog Rescue, of course but I just think it's a fun event. It gets you in the holiday spirit," said DeeAnn Maxfield. "It gets the pups in the holiday spirit, and it just brings awareness to the pet overpopulation problem that we have here in Leon County, and we hope that we can rectify that."
