TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - After finding a sick and malnourished dog lying in the road, a Tallahassee High School student brought him home and is working to bring him back to full health.
Alexander Olsen, a soon to be Junior at SAIL High School, was driving down Orchard Pond Road on Friday when he came across a Pit Bull Terrier lying in the road.
Olsen saw the dog was in bad condition so he brought the dog home to feed and give him water. The next day, he took the dog to the Northhampton Animal Clinic for evaluation.
Staff at the clinic say that the dog was not only malnourished, he had intestinal parasites and heart worms that needed treatment.
Olsen and his family were unsure if they would be able to take on the costs of his medical treatments. But, after turning to Facebook and similar websites, enough money was raised to help pay for the dog's treatment.
The Pit Bull has been with Olsen for several days now and has already gained some much needed weight.
Olsen ended up naming the dog after Jon Snow from the hit television show Game of Thrones. Olsen and his father explain that they think their Jon Snow was cast away by a family that didn't want him, just like the character in the show.
This Jon Snow is getting a much happier ending though. Olsen and his family are planning on not only seeing him through his recovery, but making him a member of the family.
