TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - Tallahassee firefighters and police officers battle it out Friday night on the basketball court.
It's all for the Guns and Hoses charity basketball game between the Tallahassee Fire Department and Tallahassee Police Department.
The game, organized by the Police Athletic League, was held at Leon High School's gymnasium.
The fire department took home the trophy, but both departments say the real winners tonight are local youth, who will benefits from the game's proceeds. Tallahassee Police Department Captain Rod Young says the Police Athletic League program gives local youth "the opportunity to get mentored and everything by our law enforcement guys. They're playing different sports like basketball, and we also have the cheerleading program under PAL league. So, this is to help benefit the program. This is one of the reasons why we participate."
Attendees either wore red to support the fire department or blue to support the police department. Can't choose a side? The event sold t-shirts to benefit the Police Athletic League youth programs.
The Police Athletic League offers recreational and educational programs to local youth. You can learn more about the programs here.
