TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- A family of three escaped an early morning house fire on the 2000 block of Windsor Oaks Court.
The homeowners woke up Tuesday just after 1 a.m. to find smoke in their house. The couple was able to get their daughter and escape, said firefighters. However, the family dog was unable to get out and died in the fire, said emergency crews.
Once firefighters were on scene, they said it took them 20 minutes to put the fire out.
Investigators were unable to identify how the house fire started, and said that it is possible it could have been from a lighting strike.
Damages are estimated at $250,000.
