TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Some hot topics being taken up at the Tallahassee Independent Ethics Board at its monthly meeting at City Hall including, the controversial wedding reception discount, and also whistleblower protection.

The ethics board has three key issues to address.

One, managing its case with the city manager. Two, looking at the mayor's ethics recommendations and three, continuing to talk about protecting whistleblowers.

First, let's talk about the city manager Rick Fernandez. The ethics board scolded him in a letter, addressing the complaint it received about Fernandez receiving a discount from The Edison Restaurant for his daughter's wedding reception.

In that letter, the board said the city "deserves better" and that his behavior was "inappropriate."

Next up, the mayor came up a list of six updates for the city's ethics code, specific to the roles of the mayor and the city commission.
