TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A Tallahassee emergency management technician is receiving a special honor.
Jena Perdue was named EMT of the year by the Florida Department of Health.
Perdue has had her EMT license for the past 15 years.
She says she was originally nominated by a co-worker and that she is very honored to be recognized for her work.
Perdue says the work she does each day is satisfying and that she has always known from a young age that she wanted help people.
The department has been awarding first responders for more than 25 years and says this is one of the ways they pay tribute to the brave medical professionals and agencies that ensure the public's health and safety in times of emergency.
