TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Tallahassee Downtown Improvement Authority is moving ahead with its search for a new CEO.

WTXL ABC 27's Jada Williams was live Monday morning from downtown Tallahassee.

Monday is an important deadline in that process.

Anyone still interested in filling that seat can apply this Monday morning.

The search committee will be begin to thumb through those applications Monday.

The process to find a new CEO is moving quickly.

Starting Friday, the 15th, the committee will begin one-on-one interviews with the finalists they select Monday.

By next Monday, the committee is expected to have a recommended replacement.

The position is currently open following the resignation of former CEO Paige Carter Smith.

Carter Smith was indicted by a federal grand jury along with former Tallahassee city commissioner Scott Maddox back in December in a pay-to-play scheme that included bank fraud, extortion, bribery, making false statements and filing false tax returns.

They've pleaded not guilty to all counts and have a status hearing on March 29.

The goal is to finalize the contract for the new CEO to begin work on March 1.
