TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The search is on for a new CEO for the Tallahassee Downtown Improvement Authority.
Two weeks. That's how much time the board is giving people to apply for this full-time job. Paige Carter-Smith resigned last month after the FBI indicted her.
The board chair says there's an "aggressive timeline" to find a replacement. Monday, the board agreed on how it'll move forward. The deadline to apply is Feb. 11.
From there, a selection committee will meet publicly to pick the finalists.
Then, that group will have face-to-face interviews at another public meeting on Feb. 15.
At that point, the committee should have a person to recommend to the board when it meets on Monday, Feb. 18.
Tallahassee Downtown Improvement Authority Chair, Chris Dudley, said applicants have already reached out to him and others on the board.
"I want to find somebody who has a passion for Tallahassee, who has a passion for downtown. It's not just an event-planning job," said Dudley. "I think the job is really to advocate for the entire downtown community, whether it be getting more retail opportunities down here, getting more restaurants down here, really talking about the places to live and work and play downtown."
Once the board approves the new CEO, the goal is to finalize the contract and officially start March 1.
