TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - To honor the fallen and support the survivors, the community is invited to a 9/11 memorial ceremony at The Centre of Tallahassee.
"Recent events have illuminated the dedication of our first responders," Mayor Andrew Gillum said. "Those members of the first responder community lost on 9/11 are not forgotten, and we are eternally grateful for their service."
Community fellowship will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. on Sunday where attendees can meet local first responders and contribute to a memory wall. A free, light breakfast of muffins, donuts, fruit and coffee from Red Eye Coffee shop will be available as well.
The official ceremony will begin at 8:45 a.m. with a moment of silence to mark the moment Flight 11 was hijacked and crashed into the north tower of the World Trade Center.
The program will include the presentation of the United States Flag of Color by a combined first responder Honor Guard team, pipes and drums, other local performers, and ceremonial placing of flowers on the World Trade Center beam, which will be on display throughout the event.
Parking will be available in the lot in front of the Barnes and Noble storefront off Monroe Street. Guests are asked to enter The Centre through Music Alley. The event will be held in the pavilion area near Dreamland BBQ.
