TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Hurricane season is upon us and rain continues to pound the area.
That's why the City of Tallahassee is helping residents make sure they're ready with a neighborhood prep workshop.
The event was hosted at the Walker-Ford Community Center. And it was all about emergency preparedness and making sure you're ready before a hurricane or other emergency hits.
Part of this event is teaching neighborhood leaders and residents how to develop workable strategies for disaster preparation and recovery efforts. But it isn't just about making sure to have canned food and a flashlight.
They're learning the big picture behind getting ready for and dealing with the aftermath of major emergencies like hurricanes.
The folks will also learn how to host neighborhood "Build Your Bucket" events.
This event is free and open to the public anyone can drop by tonight to learn more about getting ready before disaster strikes.
The workshop runs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday.
