TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Tallahassee commissioners approved a nearly $730 million budget for the 2017-2018 fiscal year.
The proposed millage rate is staying the same at 4.1 mills. But because of a rise in property values, the city will be getting more in property taxes.
In addition, a three-percent raise is slated for general employees while collective bargaining talks are underway for police and firefighter pay.
The city has saved money by eliminating some full-time positions.
Officials say the budget meets the city's needs.
The fiscal year begins October first.
On Tuesday, Leon County approved its budget of $253 million.
