TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)-- Tallahassee city commissioners are getting ready to take a closer look at next year's proposed budget. They're holding their first budget workshop on Monday.
According to our media partners at the Tallahassee Democrat, the proposed budget is $784.6 million. While that number is down $8.1 million from this year, the city will receive another estimated $1.2 million in tax revenue. Of that number, $300,000 will go toward the Community Redevelopment Agency's downtown, southside and Frenchtown districts.
However, homeowners could see an increase in taxes. The proposed tax rate would generate new revenue, which means it's considered a tax increase under state statutes.
