TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Tallahassee City Cmmission approved more than $315,000 in grant funding to support the Tallahassee Police Department.
The extra funding is expected to help TPD buy replacement equipment, more safety cameras and the technology needed to share crime data with other policing agencies in the city more efficiently.
City leaders say it's in an effort to help reduce crime and increase safety.
The federal funding portion comes from the Justice Assistant Grants and is to be shared between the Tallahassee Police Department and the Leon County Sheriff's Office.
Leon County Commissioners will discuss this further at their board meeting on December 12.
