TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - After an FBI document revealed a bribery investigation involving Tallahassee city commissioner Scott Maddox, one of his colleagues on the commission says it may be time for Maddox to resign.

Gil Ziffer says after reading the affidavit about Scott Maddox, it's time for his colleague to look at all of his options moving forward, including stepping down from the commission.

In the 21-page affidavit, Maddox is accused of soliciting bribes and collecting hundreds of thousands of dollars through a company he owned called Governance, Inc.

Ziffer said Maddox's situation is similar to that of former city manager Rick Fernandez, in that they both have the option to stay or resign while being investigated. Ziffer said he hopes Maddox will make the best decision for him and his family.

"Commissioner Maddox, as the City Manager did, should consider all his options, which at this point is staying or going ahead and resigning his seat -- and if I were him, I would have all those options on the table and consider them all very carefully," said Ziffer. "It's going to be difficult for him to continue with the allegations that are out there, but once again, that's up to him to make that decision.

We did reach out to commissioners Nancy Miller and Curtis Richardson for their thoughts as well.

Richardson declined our request for comment and we're still waiting to hear back from Miller.
