TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A Tallahassee city commissioner is calling for the suspended city manager to be put back to his post.
Rick Fernandez is under an ethics investigation after a complaint was file alleging he accepted tickets to a football game from a lobbyist.
Originally, Commissioner Gil Ziffer called for Fernandez to step down, pending the investigation.
Then, after Fernandez stepped down, Mayor Andrew Gillum released a statement saying that Fernandez made the right decision.
Commissioner Scott Maddox believes Fernandez should have the right to be considered innocent until proven guilty and to have an opportunity for due process.
Maddox released a statement: "All I know regarding the city manager's case is what has been tried in the court of public opinion.
"It would be a grave disservice to him and any City of Tallahassee employee to make presumptions and life-changing decisions without all the facts."
