TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- The Capital City celebrated the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the fourth annual MLK "Dare to Dream" music festival at Cascades Park.

Singers and dancers took the stage at the amphitheater, and children enjoyed activities, including a moon bounce and writing messages on a "Dream Board."

"What a nice way to remember, what a nice way to come together," said attendee Dr. Marcella Torres. "Today is just a festival for everyone -- not just people of color, not just minorities, but for everyone."

The festival coincided with the city's 19th annual MLK "Day of Dialogue," where panelists and the public discussed race relations in Tallahassee.

Speakers included City Commissioner Curtis Richardson and Tallahassee Police Major Audrey Smith, in addition to a representative from the community organization Village Square.

"We focus on this day, because race relations is so prevalent in this community, in this world," said moderator Angela Hendrieth, "and we want to make sure that we are doing our part to keep the dialogue going."

The event encouraged the community to get in touch with local leaders.

There will be a free, public event on Thursday, February 11 called "Speed Date Your Local Leaders" at St. John's Episcopal Church from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The structure will allow groups to speak with local leaders for seven minutes each.
