EASTPOINT, Fla. (WTXL) - The road to recovery is still a long one for those who impacted by the Eastpoint fire, but local groups are doing what they can to help residents get back on their feet.
The reality in Eastpoint is that it'll take time for residents to rebound, but 75 miles away, Red Hills Powersports is working on relief.
"Even though it's outside of our immediate community, that's still inside of our area, people we take care of," said Cody Langston, General Manager of Red Hills Powersports. "We actually sell quite a bit of stuff down in the St. George/Eastpoint area."
The motorcycle dealer on Capital Circle didn't hesitate after hearing about the Limerock Wildfire.
Red Hills teamed up with a Crawfordville riding club to get supplies to those in need.
"We knew people needed help, and they just, they lost everything, and we wanted to show support," said Melinda Topicz with Southern Cruisers Riding Club 478.
The two groups have already filled a truck with donated clothes and household items and sent it to Eastpoint. Red Hills says customers jumped right in to help.
"They see the food. They ask what's going on. They read that there. We've even had some people that didn't know what was even happening that were from other areas that saw it, left, and brought food back here," said Langston.
Because Franklin County no longer needs clothing donations, Red Hills decided to focus on non-perishable food. They've been collecting items for two weeks.
"I know they're feeding a tremendous amount of people down there, and, you know, food is something that everybody needs every day," said Langston.
Saturday morning, Southern Cruisers Riding Club 478 will ride their motorcycles and deliver the donations to First Baptist Church of Eastpoint.
Red Hills says it will collect more donations to send over later.
